CJ Jones, CEO BBCJ Media Group/CJ Jones Audio Productions, award-winning TV and radio personality, professional voiceover talent, celebrated recording artist, and Go Go Music Historian is no stranger to the media industry. For over three decades his incredible vocal talents and skills have dazzled clients around the globe. He has imaged award-winning radio stations, has voiced a number of major radio and television commercials like the Super Bowl GospelFest and is noted for his versatility, creativity, power, and style that uniquely defines his gift.
With his vast knowledge of music, CJ has successfully programmed three formats in radio. He currently hosts and produces his own radio program, The Big Brother CJ Show and other original, signature broadcasts which air on terrestrial and internet stations across the nation and reach numerous cities across the globe several of which are Stellar Award-winning stations. The Big Brother CJ Show features songs that change lives and touch lives, and by bridging songs of unity with songs of purpose, CJ uses his original blendsÂ and fuses music from different genres, taking God’s music out of the ethnic box.
With his diverse experience in radio, television, stage, film, and music, this multiple award-winning talented voice professional has been described as radical, revolutionary, innovative, and cutting edge. CJ began his career as a musician (CJ’s Uptown Crew). As one of the founding fathers of the Go-Go movement (a musical sound originating from the nation’s capital), he is a three-time WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Association) award winner and archives more than 50 sound recordings under his belt, has charted nationally on Billboards top 25 (Movin and Groovin, and is a NAACP and United Black Fund award recipient. CJ has also been featured and has starred in a number of films and documentaries alongside award-winning actors. Among such are The BBC: Welcome to the Go-Go, Island Films Good to Go/Short Fuse, Streetwise, Middle Passage n Roots, Melodies From Heaven, A Straight Up Go-Go, the 2013 release of The Legend of Cool Disco Dana, and TVOne’s Unsung Chuck Brown, The Godfather of Go-Go CJ and his crew have traveled the world performing for Presidents, military groups on the USO tour, and for various high profile dignitaries and politicians landing him features in books such as Billboard’s The Beat, and to host several of his own TV shows. Some of CJ’s artifacts have been on exhibit at DC famed Corcoran Gallery of Art (Smithsonian).
CJ’s king sized vocals then attracted him into the field of broadcast radio where he broke through various barriers. Starting in the Washington DC area, CJ kicked off the first-ever Sunday morning Christian format for a top station. He relocated to Tennessee where he directed a newly acquired Christian radio station and introduced a format that successfully integrated various styles of Christian music and became a model station in the industry. CJ then broke ground to be the first African American broadcaster in the 25-year history of Christian radio in the Tri City Tennessee region, and during his career, he interviewed the biggest stars in music and entertainment. Because of the success of his unique program format, CJ was honored for being an industry trailblazer with the 2012 EnSound Music Achievement award. He is covering over 50 stations, a major radio network, and in other continents, and his recognizable voice is stamped on various networks and affiliate stations that CJ images across the country, some of which have received the prestigious Stellar Award.
